I'm busy designing the PCB for the first pin-pointer version 9.8.3 yep that's the amount of times that I re-build and re-programmed it the 9 is for the amount of times that I build it on bread board the 8 is for the amount of times the I re-wrote the program and the 3 are the mods that I did to this particular programme but hey it will detect a copper coin at 40mm

That's quite good for a pinpointer, mate. Why do you need more? The typical use is to go over the soil on the surface after you have moved the target there. You don't normally poke it into the ground and search deep in the hole. That's a good way to destroy it when you accidentally use it to try and move just that one, itty bitty, tiny bit of soil.

CRACK!!!

Yes GD you are so right people tend to use it as a digging device I know because I have seen it, but I'm spoiled with my pin-pointer that I have on the DBP2010 as it will detect the same coin at 100mm so my stupid little mind says to me that I must make one that will do the same or better. When I run my PI and have a signal I can at most times take the pin-pointer and find the exact spot where the target is then make a hole the size of a Dollar and retrieve it. On larger targets the pin-pointer will go up to 150mm I have even located a fence pole at over 200mm but then it was a very broken up signal. I still have one issue with the new pin-pointer and that is that I have a spike but that could be because it's build on a bread board, any how I will put it on a PCB and give it to my mate Peter to try it out (he has more patience than me) not to mention that his pin-pointer will only detect a copper coin at 5mm but yes as a whole I'm quite happy with it, Hell it's the first PI design using a PIC that I did and all that because I had a good tutor  Wink

We have tons of folks that only want to find gold at 30ft or so.   Don't want to be bothered with Can, Trash and the lot.

You Can Do it.   I know ya can.   LOL

What? Have you been cheating on me now?

The depth can be as much as you can get from it but don't fret too much. It's mostly for use on that soil which we all know contains an 18k gold ring with a 2ct diamond. It's just that we can't see it! Out comes the pinpointer. Yep, another pull tab.

Can't be about me, mate.

I want him to write a program for that PIC that makes it beep randomly. Just to keep you hopping!

Hummmmm yes but then I would have to send you a drawing of it or I can do that for you on Sunday very simple really All you need are a few cap's and a resistor and one LM317T ho yes and a trim pot A very simple way of doing it is with a voltage divider then all you'll need are two resistors.
