Here we go again..... "professional" arkies whinging once more!
"It's gone into a private collection" - "will never be seen in public again" (how do they know that?)
Well...... if it hadn't been found by a detectorist...... it would NEVER have been seen at all!
I'm sure the new owner will be more than happy to let various arkies run their grubby little paws over it......

Truer words have never been spoken.  Many of the treasures in modern museums either were in private collections at one time or are on loan from private collectors.   All it means is the archies don't get direct control over who does and does not get to see it.

Hi Paul A . i will offer to buy Mr Mike Phd of CBA a metal detecter so he can come out with us and find some of these sites that we bring to their attention , because the weather is just about right and with his knowledge as a team we could re write the history books. Nearly all of us (99%) of us that is, would do the right thing if we were lucky enough to find such things, Hey mike work with us it can only preserve what we've never seen TeachTeach
