It is my experience finders fees have normally been in the neighborhood of 10%. The remodeling contractor didn't own the property, nor ANYTHING attached to it or secreted in it.
All that early gold cert money has been devalued and is only worth collectible premium sold one or two at a time, in proper condition. Otherwise it isn't even worth face value.
I'm glad the owner is sticking to her guns. Her house, her treasure. If she would have flipped the home to another buyer and never found it, it would belong to the next owner, and not her.
