Go Up Go Down

A Socorro man has made some interesting finds in the dirt under Isidro Baca Park.
?With them tearing up the park, I saw an opportunity to do some metal detecting,? . . . ?They used to have fiestas there way back when, and I thought I might find something.? . . . ?The oldest thing I?ve found is a Barber dime dated 1902,?  . . . ?There?s been a few people who said, ?Oh, I was going to do that,?? he said. ?They still can. They could go over now and find some things ? they?re that thick.?

The article mentions that the city has removed the top 4 - 6 inches of soil - I've sleuthed things like that before and followed them to see where they put the dirt, too.

This is a little crazy, but here's another New Mexico story in the news: LAS CRUCES ? A man with a metal detector inadvertently shut down two Chaparral schools Friday afternoon after a high school employee mistook him for a man with a shotgun.

Cool .... sounds like he's a good rep for the hobby.    And to think I know the park from my pre-MDing days.  :Smiley
