This is a pretty good story about a treasure hunter really starting with nothing except desire and having an exciting life.

Jessop began pestering the Salvage Association for permission to salvage cargoes lost at sea. Eventually, the association's clerk wrote ''Johanna Thorden, Swona'' on a piece of paper and told him: ''Find it or don't come back.''
The Johanna Thorden, laden with copper, had sunk in the Pentland Firth, off the island of Swona, which lies off Scotland. No other salvage team would go near the dangerous area, but Jessop recovered the cargo in 1969. . . . "
