My husband upgraded me to a Garret GTI1500 and I have already found my best find, a 1884 Indian Head cent.  The only probable it is badly corroded.  Does anyone have the best way to clean it without damaging it?

Try Polident Tablets. Use one instead of the recommended two and watch carefully to see the corrosion floating off. Don't leave it alone too long.

Ordinarily, I don't recommend such a cleaning method for a coin that old but the value is not that high. In really nice condition, one can be had for around $10.00 to $45.00. As a collectible, yours has more value to you as a coin that was last handled by someone perhaps 100 years ago.
