Hi all,

Don't think this has much interest or value, but I found this 1942 dime in grassy dunes here at the North Sea.

Undoubtfully a WWII souvenir...

i find this a nice coin.

Thanks for looking.

HH

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it appears to be overstruck.  I can't pick out detail on the date from the pictures you posted, but inspect it under magnification to make sure its not a 1942/1.  There were some dimes struck in 1942 that were accidentally struck with the 41 die first, then restruck with the 42 die.  The impression of the 1 is faint, but the rest of the coin is overstruck due to being stamped twice.  That would be quite a find, and worth a good bit of money.  Regardless, it's a beautiful coin and quite a find to dig out of the ground over there this many years later.

That mercury dime is in a lot better shape than most I've seen.

Thanks for looking.

That place where I found it is mild with silver coins. Found some belgian 1950's there in same condition.

Will try to make a close up of the date, but it doesn't seem special to me.

HH
Hi

Here's the closeup of the date.

Nothing special I think, maybe the 2 is not at the same height than the other numbers, but it might  just be my eyes... Grin

given the date on it, the odds are actually pretty good.....considering the number of US personnel were in the European theatre between 1942 and 1947.
