While serving in Afghanistan, i picked up a whole bunch of old US silver dollars from a local bizzare and came home to get them appraised and found that they were indeed counterfit.  Reading on the history of the coins, the silver dollar was counterfit extensively during the 1800's in Southwest asia.  The appraiser believed them to be from the 1800's but that they had been part of those that were counterfit, I picked up a whole bunch though and have an abundance, that look cool in a small chest in my house, i'll post pictures of them as soon as i can, they look exactly like the real deals, and like i said, are most liekly from that time period
