Does anyone have experience about corrosion or lack of corrosion of silver US dimes, quarters, whole or half dollars in New England soils?

I have yet to find a silver anything at saltwater beaches.  Coins of this vintage have likely been picked clean at beaches.   Clad only a few years old by its date mark seems well corroded in its short stint on the beach. 

If you have observed either corrosion or immunity from corrosion, please share your experience.

I have heard that gold is very resistant to corrosion.  The scant few pieces I found were all in very good condition.

New England soil is quite loamy and coins sink in it. Older coins are going to require sophisticated search techniques to locate them but they are there. Corrosion isn't really going to be an issue though.

The idea that silver is down deep but still there is encouraging.  I can always crank up the amplification and/or ratchet down the discrimination.  If I couple those with digging more "maybe"s I might be onto something.

My pleasure. I'm bicontinental, you know. I'm from Connecticut and travel to and from Australia. Getting a bit too old for the long flights though. We'll be taking fewer and fewer trips in the future.

I have found Connecticut to be beautiful. I went to a convention last year in Mystic. There was an aquarium, a maritime museum, loads of great restaurants. I was there in September and it was gorgeous.

As far as the plane ride, I never understood why airlines didn't have bunks on the planes like sleeper cars on a train.  Except for the few who are claustrophobic, they could probably put just as many of us on a plane in bunks as they can with seats.

One of the administrators from the treasure hunting website found someone else with the problem of involuntary transport to the German website and just messaged me back that it's fixed.

I'm from upstate NY, but close to the boarder to Vermont, about 20 miles. I don't think the soil is to different. The silver coins that I have dug look like the day they were dropped.
