OK, well - somewhat... I got a roll of half-dollars from the bank, and went though them and BAM! out popped in the mix of those 20 coins one average circulated Franklin 1962!  Grin

That's the first time that has ever happend to me.

Oh, the story gets a bit better too.. sometimes you can buy/get those half dollars with a commemorative picture painted on the back side.. well in that SAME roll was one of these (2003) with the space shuttle painted on it! Grin
Are those worth a lot?

i was into coin roll hunting for awhile,its tresure hunting in winter.i'd go to the bank,get a box of half dollars,snag the silver and turn it back in.made enough in one winter to buy my excaliber.it didn't always work tho,i went thru 27 straight boxes of skunks.all in all 365 in 40 %ers and 102 in 90%ers,still have the 90%

Whoa!  As a newbie, I haven't heard of this type of coin hunting yet.  But you can bet I'll certainly start trying it in my hometown.  Thanks for the revelation!

I just dropped off my old rolls that I've gone through, and picked up 7 more new rolls to sort through now! I found another bank that currently stocks a box of them on hand all the time! The manager and teller both were very pleasant to deal with, and I didn't even have to have an account with them to turn in the rolled coins.

NICE! get to know the tellers,after awhile buy them a box of donuts or bagels and you'll see how quickly they'll put those shiny silvers to the side for you that come across their counter.i remember my first box,i got 20 90%ers and 22 40%ers and a couple of proofs..........i was hooked
