Hi Austin
The ground balance arrangement on my GMT 1650 consists in a panel mount pot in series with the board-mounted trimmer. The wiper leg of the board-mounted trimmer has been lifted instead of being soldered to the board, and a wire has been taken to the CW leg of a 27k linear 10-turn pot on the panel (the wiper of the panel mounted pot goes to ground. Maplin don't carry the bit you're looking for or at least, I don't see it in their current stock list. Farnell, however, carry a large range of 10-turn pots and you should be able to get one from them if you open an account, which is a lot easier to do these days than it used to be.
If you're wanting to completely replace the board-mounted trimmer, what you need is a 100k linear pot such as Farnell code 1520670 (100k lin) which, at the time of typing is listed at ?7.20. If you want a wee bit more spread in the control range, you could consider a 50k pot (1144794 ?7.92) or a 20k pot (1520674 ?7.20) in series with the board-mounted original.
Hope this helps and good luck.
