| That's a very good question. I've wondered about the same thing myself. Would a better detection head make a China-made detector like the MD5008 into a decent machine?

I don't think so. I had a local guy who asked me to look at his Seben machine which was acting up on him. For all intents and purposes, it was a mirror image of the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV. When I opened it up to see what was wrong, I found most of the solder joints were cold soldered which is indicative of hand soldering rather than machine processing. Out of probably 200 joints, I had to reflow more than half. It worked better but the machine could never be improved upon. Rather than burst his bubble entirely, I encouraged him to use it to find enough cash to buy a newer, better machine.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
