Hi All,

Can anyone share schematics of 2 Box VLF detector, which can detect metals hidden under ground, may be at about 20 feet or little more. including part list & Tx & Rx coil details (like No. of Windings, Gauge etc.)

Is there any special circuit / settings required for detecting cooper & gold items at above mentioned depths.

Thanks in advance.
FICTIVE.

Hi there fictive,

and look under metal detectors. There are a couple of 2 box circuit designs along with text explaining many things about 2 box metal detectors.
You may also want to consider a Fisher Gemini III 2 box or Whites TM808.
If the mineralisation is not too bad the Gemini III goes deep on large metal objects.
Sometimes you can find these detectors used at a good price from metal detector dealers in the U.S./Europe
Hope this helps,
Jon

Hello . The best Two-Box in my opinion is the Discovery TF 900 and I heard rumors it is close to being discontinued ? Why would they do that ? If you can find one -buy it !! Or wait to build a TF 900 , since information is slowly becoming available on different Electronic Metal Detector Tech. Forums !!!

Others on the list are Whites TM-808 and Fisher Gemini III , Garrett GTI 2500 used with a Treasure Hound Eagle Eye search coil .

Best of Luck..........Eugene

Twenty feet sure seems deep to detect.  The size of your target is going to make detecting at that depth possible or not.  I would try a DPR before a metal detector if you have the money.  Notka makes a pretty cool one that is very intelligent but you will have to put up a pretty penny.

I am still a rookie compared to others here but I sure would not have thought that anything smaller than a dune buggy can be seen twenty feet down.

The Fisher TW-6 reviews claim that it can locate to 20' but I think it's only large items like underground pipelines. I too would like to see some schematics of detectors that will detect fairly small items up to 8 feet anyway.

Hello Tom and Welcome to our Forum . How small is small ? Small items inside of a very large metallic container is possible to a maximum of 8 feet , like a cache . A large handful of coins to 2 feet is possible . Please be more specific on the exact size of the target to be detected , on land or underwater ?

HH............Eugene

Hey Eugene,

I have some land in Belize that was last populated by the Mayans about 500 years ago. There is a fairly solid marl base about 3 to 8 feet down, depending on the spot. I would assume that any gold trinkets or other artifacts would be above this marl.

So I need a detector or combination of detectors to search to that depth. At the deepest I would want to be able to detect something about the size of an ounce of gold.

I was looking at the Garrett Master Hunter CX Plus with the Treasure Hound Depth Multiplier but I'm not really seeing stats on how deep the depth multiplier goes or how small an item it'll locate at maximum depth so i thought I'd look into building my own.

Let me know if you know of a detector that'll do what I want as I'm a newbee in this area.

Trinkets are just too small. Large gold items like cups and such might be detectable with a two box machine but rings and things are not big enough. A handful of them in a compact area is a big enough mass but not a single ring.

There are limits. More importantly, no ancient society that crafted gold is going to drop them willy nilly on the ground. You're better off looking for underground evidence of buildings or hidden entrances to caves. You have a better chance of finding gold items in them.
