Hello Paul A . I heard they are a good little metal detector for the price . I would recommend this for those who want a complete kit , if the search-coil and all parts are included !!! I posted the correction on the articles schematic  . Maybe check it , to see if it is accurate .................Best Regards................Eugene52

Hi,
Yes it comes with all the hardware.
Search coil you need to wind yourself (very easy, only 27 turns) but the magnet wire is supplied

Hello , Another great option !! You can buy a cheap Pulse Induction "Hand-Held security Scanner WAND for $15. Dollars and add an external search-coil !!! Remember the "PROSCAN PI" project a few years ago , how do you think they got there idea ? They took a PI hand-held metal detector and added a 8 inch mono PI coil !! Shocked .........Another Great Option and a lot less than $50. Dollars   Great

 Great............... Wise Wise........Eugene52

I have seen these security scanners on ebay.
do we have any further info on them? ie what type, circuits mods etc
they may well be good enough for my "find the arrow" requirements?

Hello vector180 , you will be searching for Bronze and Copper Arrowheads . So a P.I. pulse induction circuit would work , but you will be digging up a lot of extra garbage . You need more of a Relic Hunting Type Machine , like a VLF around 5 to 15 khz , The best relic hunters are at 5 khz . I found out the newer Pro-Scan II is a VLF that runs at 22 khz , so it is not a P.I. !!! It is also called a MD 3003B and is overpriced . I do not know what country you are at , but ebay is always overpriced !! Please check craigslist.org if they have local listings for your area . And then type metal detector  in the "for sale" box , sometimes they have really good used Machines . I think you are going to have to build a metal detector to stay close to $50. dollars . The member who originally posted this topic should have said "Build a powerfull metal detector for less than $100." , that would have been a more realistic statement !! I am still searching for circuits to help you ....But whatever you decide , before you go out in the field , do some testing at home with copper and bronze to make sure it is detecting and or discriminating properly so you will not miss your Arrowhead Targets out in the field......................Eugene52

Hello vector180 , If you have an electronics bench and a good "stock pile" of extra parts , here is a circuit thats been corrected , tested and works . Not the best P.I. but it works good and should cost less than $50. Dollars . You can download this to your personal schematic library . Read the text file it has a parts list and circuit description ..... I will keep looking , also check craigslist.org for used VLF machines .

Regards................Eugene52

Thanks Eugene52.
Im looking over that project now.
Please note tho that these arrow heads are not relics. They are either brass or steel and were shot n buried less than 10 min ago.

I think at this point I should start a new topic with the specific problem I have. At the moment its kinda spread and unless you follow all the posts its unclear.
