Hi Christian,
Sword or Dagger "Pommell" I reckon (Or part thereof)
As the size is 6cm - i'd go with sword

Hi Christian,
By the look of the decoration I'm thinking possibly Viking Longsword.

Hmmm,
I thought Viking as the decoration is similar to that on the "Jelling Stones" in Denmark.
Maybe somewhere a little more exotic then - Somewhere in the "Far East"?
Don't know - but it's a fantastic find!

Far East is on the right track! Paul, you are fully right that the Vikings had similar designs. However you nust also consider the place where it has been found. So have a guess what the story might have been.

Regards,

Christian
