I found this blob of lead in the confield. I ussaly always find musketballs in the field so I figured maybe it was a canonball? Never found one so I dont know. I figured it was made of the same stuff as the musketballs. Who knows. It is the size of a golfball.

O ya it weighs 2.15 ounces and it is all white. Figured I would tell you that since you cant see it in the pic.

could be a old morter round from the civil war...I think the smaller ones used lead or it could be a chunk soldiers carried to cast there own balls from.  Very nice find...Cheesy

I also do often find lead in fields especially when there are musketballs, too. THis may have been a left over where they did actually produce some muskettballs right in the field.

I have also found musketballs in unfinished condition.

The end away from the camera looks torn or rough can you post a pic of it? Does the piece look like it might have been hollow?
