Go Up Go Down

I got out for another hour today and hit an abandoned city lot next to a baseball diamond.

Got a nice handful of clad coins and an interesting "whatsit"
It appears to be zinc or chrome plated brass, and was about 9" deep..
It reminds me of a lipstick tube from the 1950s, and for some reason I think this is water or steam related...

It appears to have been "peened" or attached to something else at the larger end..

You can't see it in the pic, and I can't GET a better one due to the limits of my equipment, but the "half circle" hole in the big end, tapers down to a 1/2 mm opening recessed in the small end.. Sort of "duckbilled"
I think it is made to compress or regulate air, steam or water....
And I would Imagine it WOULD make quite a noise if this was the case..
Think "whistle"

EdiT: I think it might be a radiator check valve....

Darn BitburgAggie_7377,

One has to be quick when your online. I was about to say the same thing!

Insert it into a balloon, blow up the balloon and let 'er rip! I'll bet that would really please a child's parents.  Smiley

It's about the circumference of a quarter, I think it would be too large for that.

Okay... one last stab at it. Could it be a whistle from a fireworks sky rocket?
