I found this button when i first started metaldeting and i found it at a old fair grounds which before was a civil war camp so it could be from either one.  if anyone can tell me anyting about this button please tell me.     dont know if pic will work it woldnt work when i tried to change my display pic from scifi thing to a pic from me also need to know how to do that lol.

No idea about the button but a very nice find ,,I see some round holes on it looks like it may have had some kind of stones in it    Detecting  Would love to see a pic of the back of it though

Helo tyler; Not sure about the coin, but it has a lot of detail. I cleaned it up a little and added it to your post. Just keep trying out the pictures and you will soon have it figured out.  Smiley

ok i got a pic of the back and i got a pic of the front cleaned up a little by the way i hyave another button or pin on a shirt or somthing it has 2 loops on back but need to know  wat symbol means. i found in a yard of an old house in town need help on identification of it also please pic includeed

looks like a peacock,,, maybe of a hunters jacket ..I doubt military though ,,,And the other looks like it maybe from a science center or masonic ,,To bad you can't find the hole where you retrieved it maybe the stones are still waiting to be found

i was told by my great uncle who served in WWII he died about 3 mounths ago ago people dont even no how long he served in the miltary his name was Charles Hussey but any way he said it had somthing to do with the civil defernse

Yup that's what I thought too.  A 1950's civil defence pin.  For those of you who remember going to school in those days I give you the word...DROP !!!  Say I wonder if the government would give me a pension for the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that I have gone through since 1950's grade school?  The other might be a Bird of Paradise fancy ladies button that once had some cut glass in those five little holes.  It has the look of 1860's to it.

your "dragon" might be in fact a "griffon" Wink commonly used on british made buttons * the south imported buttons from england during the civil war -- later on the north did as well -- buttons from england can be pre or post civil war  Grin
