Go Up Go Down

I found this ring in salt water. It was tarnished black, but no crustacean on it. It is stamped with what looks to be a W with a crown over it. No 925. It appears to be silver though. Will take it and have it looked at, but wanted to see if anybody here could help.

Thanks - Chris

Cool Ring!

.925 indicates silver content.     Sterling Silver.    92.5 % Silver

W , would be the manufacturer.

Celtic trinity knot design. As homefire states .925 indicates sterling silver. And that most probably indicates it was made in the USA. If it were made in continental Europe odds are it would be .800 silver and it would also bear other hallmarks. If it were made in England, Ireland or Scotland it would not state .925 at all, but would be specifically hallmarked. I don't think it is very old - probably last 10 years, when all things Celtic became so popular.  As to maker - I have no idea. There is no central registry in the US for maker's marks, as there is in countries using hallmarks. Still it's a neat ring, nice design.
