White Prism IV

Go Up Go Down

This is my first detector, I bought it at a local hobby shop. I have had a good time with it but I was curious to see if its a good detector to stick with or as I start going out more and more if I should upgrade. The hobby guy told me that it is a good all around detector and would be a good fit for a beginner. Also maybe something I could do to improve my prism IV. Thanks in advance for any help,

~Patrick~

The prizm IV is a  good detector.  The biggest thing to keep in mind is that you need to learn your machine.  A person can have the best gear that money can buy but if they don't understand what it is trying to tell them or how to properly adjust different settings if they would choose to then chances are good that they may not find as much as someone using a lower line detector that knows the machine that they are using.  Your Prizm should serve you well as you pick up different tips and tricks and become used to your machine and then if you would like to try and upgrade to a different model then by all means do the research and find one that may suit your hunting styles or needs a little better.  Ultimately it boils down to what works good for you.

I have Prism V,  I really like it.  It took me about 4 times out to know how to use it correctly.  Take your time and get to know your Prism.

The P-IV is a great machine.  It did take some time to learn as there's more to detecting than just swinging.
I mostly detect parks and schoolgrounds with a little bit of beach and woods.  It doesn't do well on the wet sand at the beach but for inland hunting it does great.
Here are some of the finds with the Prizm IV:

I am a former Prizm IV owner who upgraded to a MXT.
The greatest thing whites has done is to come out with a Prizm 4X6 shooter coil for area's with a lot of targets close to each other.

Another great coil for the Prizm series is the "Bigfoot" coil.I had one and it is fantastic for covering large areas in much shorter time.It is like an 18 inch windshield wiper, and it is a great coil.Jimmy Sierra sells the Bigfoot. It is up there in price, but well worth the money (if you plan keeping the Prizm detector)... Upgrading from a Prizm to a MXT is an overwhelming expirience. The tracking speed is Awesome. Have fun with your prizm  Great
