Did you bring home the WWII OD (olive drab) beer cans? That's something I collect and some of them are worth good money. A nice condition Fox Deluxe just sold on eBay for over $2,500!

Sorry, that was over 40 years ago now and I didn't manage to save any. Like I said, they smelled horrible when opened and at that time, all we were interested in was having a beer.

I do have an interesting beer can though. It was from the USS Nimitz when we were at sea for 100 days without going to port, they gave us each two beers. I took mine down to the post office and had them put stamps on it and postmark it for the date. Very rare, obviously, since I don't know of any others in existence.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

GD,

I'd love to see pics of your USS Nimitz can! I don't think I've ever seen one. If anyone wants to see what OD cans look like I'm happy to post some pics. I don't want to waste everyone's time if there's no interest, especially considering this is a TH site and not a beer can site.

I sure would like to dig some silver coins. Until then, I guess I'll be happy digging 1930s beer cans!

I'll take a photo later today. I'm pretty sure I know where it is.

This site is for all kinds of treasure. If you consider beer cans a treasure, find the appropriate forum and post your pics. Probably fits best under Garage Sale Finds.

Yea me too, I would love to see some old beer or other types of cans. Post them under garage sale or the bottle boards.

It's in exactly the right spot and it is fascinating. I found the beer can I told you about. Will bring it down from the shelf and photograph it very soon. Despite the snow and super cold weather, we do get busy on other stuff.
