I wonder if old General Yamashita is having a laugh sitting next to Ferdinand and Imelda in whatever their afterlife has dealt them. Between the three of them, one of the most overwhelming diseases has struck the beautiful Philippine Islands and shows no sign of a cure.
Be warned. If you seek the treasure of General Yamashita, you are doomed to these obsessions.
You will see a sign pointing to one of these treasures on every tree, rock and book flyleaf.
You will dig thousands of holes in search of that treasure and find shards of pottery, which you will interpret as the next sign to the treasure.
You will dig holes deep into the countryside and find slabs of concrete which are just too hard to break.
You will assume these slabs are so hard to break because they are hiding a room full of gold and banknotes.
You will take dangerous risks and enter places where survival is nearly impossible because of a scribble on the wall of a cave which actually says, "Ben Loves Molly" in French.
You will risk every bit of your personal wealth in chasing yet another Yamashita sign consisting of a crack in a rock that you are positive is pointing towards that huge treasure cavern.
You will see aliens and ghosts which will be trying to keep you away from their treasure. With that kind of confirmation, you are now absolutely sure you have found the treasure. Why else would they guard it?
You will listen only to those who bring you news of the treasure signs that you hold close ignoring the warnings of anyone who dares mock you.
You will spend countless hours on Internet forums trying to enlist others to your point of view. Fail!
You will spend the rest of your days moving earth, water and stone looking and looking and looking . . .
Just don't blame me when you get this disease. I told you not to kiss the Golden Buddha.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
Let's Talk Treasure!
