Just to open the conversation about the end result of selling anything that is found, since the Philippines lays claim to all Yamashita's gold, as does Japanese, and China, how does one really bring anything  found to the market.  I'm told for past 20 years the Philippines has been blacklisted from selling gold on the international market.  Too, one can always grind up the bars and sell around the world, but any bars found are collectors items, and should be sold as such, but really how, with all the countries laying claim, one can work their butt off only to see all efforts get locked up in the legal system.  This happened to one large cache found off the Flordia coast, the man never saw anything from his findings for over 10 years, by that time, the government and attorney's had taken everything.  Suggestions???

I think u were concerned about selling gold in the philippines. That was to let u know if u have the real thing it is easy to sell. But if what u have is fake it is very hard to sell.

I still don't understand what you mean about fake gold. Do you mean gold that doesn't exist at all or gold that has somehow been made to look like WWII booty? It's not clear what you mean.

In the Philippines, because the Japanese burried lots of treasure there on land and in the sea. That gives people who are not completely honest, an opportunity make stories that they have found treasure and sell what they dont have. Some have used bronze bars and sold them to greedy buyers who did not know what they were buying. Gold,  Platinum and buddas have been counterfited. U.S paper money also was counterfited there, low grade. Gold bonds were sold, but they cannot be cashed. If it is fake gold they dont want to let u test it or check it any way without getting ur money. If it is real they will give u sample to test. That is why i said real gold is easy to sell, but the fake is hard to sell. People are becoming wiser now on what they buy. Did not try to intentional misled u. thanks

Very true, Kent. If the buyer wants to test the "gold", they will insist that he buy a bar of the offered metal first. If the buyer falls for it, he'd have bought himself a very expensive paperweight. This scam is not unique to the Philippines, it is constantly being played in Malaysian Borneo also using "platinum" with the Johnson Matthey hallmark from Indonesia and a myriad of "gold" bars from Mindanao. Buyers beware!

Disposing it in the black market in rebars (without the hallmarks) or deformed to make it appear that it came from a gold mining operation is quite easy especially with the price of Au soaring to 1286 usd an ounce.  Disposing is never a problem.  Finding it is. Just keep out the government, politicians, bureaucrats, military men from the find. They are the devils that preys on unsuspecting and trusting treasure funders
