Hello All
In the far North of Australia there numerous legends of treasure and lost gold reefs. In the tiny village of Daintree there was a story a timber cutter who was out into the jungle and got lost. This was just after World war one.
The Timber cutter whose last name was Mealing wandered about the jungle hopelessly lost. He wandered around for days across the hills and creeks until he came across a outcrop of quartz. The timber getter broke off a piece of gold studded quartz. After another day he managed to find his way home.
For many years he show the locals the specimen but was never able to locate the outcrop he found when he was lost. He retold as an old man his story to a prospector in the early 1950's by the name Fred Brown.
To this day it is not known if anyone has ever rediscovered the gold rock outcrop.
Hardluck.
