The oil spill will affect a lot of lives and bankrupt lots. Will be a detectorist playground on the beaches for a while.

Couple of thoughts here:
1) The president doesn't seem to be focusing enough attention to this topic. You would think that the livelihood/economy of three states (and more) is in jeopardy not to mention the entire gulf eco-system that it would be more important.
2) Metal detecting along the beaches! Yes certainly, however no NEW coins are going to be dropped there now for quite some time.
3) The stock price of BP - as long as they don't go bankrupt, when all this is over... man talk about an investment opportunity! Lets face it, in our lives right now, oil industries are making big-bucks, so buy this stuff when it hits around $20/share (I"m guessing) and wait it out for about a year. Even if they were bought-out by xyz oil company, that usually equates to a certain number of xyz shares in exchange during the take-over, and there you are still sitting pretty good.

BP is the bad boy of petroleum companies.  The fact that our coast guard blocked efforts of the sovereign state of Louisiana to scout where to put sand bars makes me question the control of the Feds.  Is BP telling us what to do.  The Pres-o-dent sure doesn't seem to have a handle on it.  It all seems to be threats and posturing. What happened to the Reagan days when no one wanted to screw with us?  I think we're one more screw up from revolution.  Screw BP America should develop the technology to handle disasters.

I had 12 foot of water in my house from IKE. Mud salt water then the mold a big mess add some oil to it the clean up would be imposable

I see where the president is filing charges against BP and the weather channel mentioned today that a hurricane would devastate the whole southern gulf of Mexico area if one would hit and the hurricane season started yesterday. The only bright side if u are a coin detectorist the rings and coins are yours for the digging,lord knows how many rings are under the dry sand and at 1200$ an ounce a good heavy mans wedding ring would bring 2-300$ dollars now.

Unless they're going to get serious about containing/recovering the oil, a little storm action churning things up might not be that bad.  Tar balls on shore might be easier to deal with than sheets of oil covering the sand.   (pure idle speculation, but why not...at this point that's about all anybody seems to be doing) 

BTW when I say a "little" storm action, that's exactly what I mean---nothing greater than a category 1 and preferrably one that peters out before it makes land fall.
