One person can't tell another person the best beach detector for them.
There are so many variables and everyone is different.

All I can suggest is to have a look in Md shops online and see whats on offer,
what it can do and the price.
Once you have selected 2 or 3 possibles then check
as many reviews and field tests until you find your ideal machine. Great

I would suggest a Fisher CZ 20 / 21 which is a really great allround detector both for beach land and underwater use.

A lot depends on the type of beach you're hunting. Some units don't respond very well to black sand, so a machine that might be good in FL might not be as good in CA. Also, it depends if you're searching in the water or just the wet/dry sand. I use a Whites BHID for the salt water beaches. You may want to consider that or an Excalibur. If you are just interested in searching the wet/dry sand then the Minelab Sovereign is a good choice. I would encourage you to do as much research as possible and decide based upon the type of conditions in your area. Good luck.

The Garrett Infinium does very well on the beach, plus you can wade out into the surf line where all the goodies are.

My list is : 1. Minelab Excalibur 1000 , Fisher CZ-20 a 1st place tie !!! 2 . Garrett Infinium especially for salt water beach areas. 3. Whites Beach hunter I.D. is in last place !!...Just my opinion , do not want to start a Riot here ! Round About

My first beach and surf was a Whites Surfmaster PI. It did a bang up job as well, but the Infinium is a much better detector.

ORO . There is not such a thing as a beach and surf detector . They are all just detectors ! . The trick is to get hold of a good detector that will register all metals . My choise would be a good PI meteal detector with a discrimination factor built in . Cornelius

As far as I can tell, there are no good pulse detectors that can discriminate anywhere like a VLF can do. I use a pulse on the beach and in the water, but only on relatively clean beaches. When I get to areas where there is trash, I use a waterproofed Sovereign. I could just as well use a Excaliber, but I hip mount my detectors for longer use with out fatigue, and the Excaliber isn't so good for that. Plus I can waterproof a Sovereign meter for water use as well. I tried out the Fisher CZ-20 several years ago, but I like the multi tones of the Sovereign much better. I am still waiting for a good pulse that can 'really' discriminate.
