Hi Mate

I use an Excalibur II (10" coil) and it seems to work quite well after you get the hang of adjusting threshold to sensitivity, works well in mineralised ground and is good at keeping iron out of the equation in low discrimination.
Hope this helps

Cheers

Bazza

Thanks BAZZA yes that one and the land version the sovereign GT are highly under rated I've got 100s of happy hours with GT

that BBS system open up a whole new world both above the water and below , and the depth your machine can work puts it in

a class of it's own

thank you , john

I agree w/ Ruckus Rider . PI units are great in salt water but the iron you would find in fresh water would take a lot of fun away from your detecting. Here in fl. some people do well w/ excel around docks.  Good luck w/ your detecting

With White's Surf PI Pro I'll dig up all in a row? There is no discrimination? Embarrassed

Cross off most of the detectors on your list due to lack of effective discrimination. Then the Fisher 1280. It was designed as a fresh water detector but not the best for land and doesn't cope with salt well but the main problem is if you can get repairs since true "Fisher" disappeared. The option is to get a Headhunter Wader which is based on the 1280 but will also work on the salt beach and land. 2.4 kHz, 8" or 10" coils with waterproof connectors. Lightweight (3.5lbs). 40 to 50 hours from two nine volt batteries.
Wonder why no one has suggested the At Pro ? Waterproof to ten feet and isn' bad in the fresh water which is really what it was designed for.
