Go Up Go Down

Since there's so much junk accumulated on many of the clad coins we find, I had an idea that I got from watching others do something similar.

I'm only interested in cleaning up the corroded clad coins enough so that the banks will take them in their machines, and/or can be rolled succefully. So, with that being said - at home I have a 3 lb rock tumbler! I was wondering if anyone has the same and have tested putting your clad coins in it, and if so - what ingredients do you throw in?
There are several different stages of tumbling, so I was curious to know which would produce the best results for cleaning them up and still have them come out servicable.

Thanks

OK, that's a start, thanks seldom for the link. I read it, and it mentions the aquarium rocks which is fine and detergent.. which type? How much? A teaspoon? Dish washing soap? Liquid Laundry detergent?

Can anyone be a little more specific?
Thanks

Thanks BA -
OMG - A dixie cup of dishsoap - that's overkill!
I'd think for that small a container that anything over a tablespoon would be too much. Hmmm.

Yep a tablespoon is about what I use and then for a hour are two. I check dates and marks before they get cleaned so all I want is to get them to go thru the coin star machine. If your looking for cash don't use the Coin Star as they charge 8 or percent for cash but offer gift cards at Home depot and other places for free.

Kind of off topic, but I save up all my clad and use it to buy older coins. That way they are sorta like having "found" coins... lol...
