hi darrell, tabdog is right about what he said more expensive doesn't mean more finds, i started detecting with a secondhand sovereign ( minelab ) and after a few weeks realised its all about getting your ears tuned in to your detector , once you break through that barrier you run on automatic and the finds come a lot  easier , some days you draw  a blank but you just accept that, enjoy the hobby.  thorin Smiley

Hay Thorin,

You picked a good one.

I always wanted to run a Sovereign.

But, I am stuck on the 2 pound Tesoroes.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

might get the old sovereign out again and run it up , had some good finds with it in my early days of detecting , a lot of people swear by them as a discriminating beach detector with the 15" wot coil. Wink

The beach, cool. I plan on doing my first beach hunting in 2 weeks near Newport Beach, CA. Are there rules about mding at the beach? Like don't walk on people while mding? Don't hit people with the detector when frustrated? just joking, but newbie for sure. My friend Terry said he noticed people looking with disdain as he combed the beach even though he was polite about it all.
