Most people on this site are newbies. Hopefully you make it past that stage and just don't post your 5 and never return, but provide your unique incite and stories. Grin

We're all newbies at one time.  I been at it for 14 months and love it.  I just upgraded from a BH to a Cortes and now have to learn a new detector again. All I can say is keep at it.  My first few months were trying, but it was well worth it. This is truly a great hobby and I have learned so much about our history as well as friendships along the way.  The best of luck and happy hunting.

Hello!  I'm new too and came across this page.  When I read your reply, I couldn't help thinking of my dad's morning morning coffee club.  They called themselves "the ol' gezers" for the longest.  Then someone went off and gave it some official sounding name.  Sad, huh?  I liked The ol' gezers.  I still call it that!   I hope you'll help me with a stupid sounding question.  I keep reading how important it it to get a proper plug of grass and dirt.  Trouble is, I don't usually dig in the dirt.  What tool should I use?  How big should the hole be?  It's silly to hesitate to dig because I don't know this.   I'm really excited to get started.  I hope to have lots to share.  Debra
