Really good post. Homefire, you got a picture of the sand detector? I wont say I leave the pennys, but I cheat after I get tired of digging everything. My little coin shooter has a few settings that produce mostly clad sliver. I always go back later and dig the rest. In the public areas I keep the holes 4 feet apart and give the roots time to grab hold before I start digging holes on top of each other. My recent purchase of a 4 inch coil has made my hunts much more enjoyable. The 8 inch coil is too sensitive, not sure if thats a sign of age or not.
