Down here In Deming New Mexico, there is the thing.

But, if you ask you may get the Ok in certain areas.

Forest: You can detect but can not Dig!
These folks are REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT the antiques laws. There have been people ticked for possessing square nails over 50 years old! LOL!!
Surface finds on Indian stuff is good to go no matter what they tell you as long as your not within a Archaeological area..
