I prefer single cupped headphones. I want to hear if someone is approaching from behind or in the area.
I use "Rattlers" and they work fine.
I also use cheap ear buds in the summer.

i use headphones most of the times out md, the reasons are saves on batteries and doesnt cause noise for other people to hear . in my opinion just a cheap 5-10 dollar set of  headphones works for me.  your just listening to differents beeps and tones that the detector makes .

^^^ This and Exactly -
Never understood why someone would want to shell out hundreds of dollars on headphones,
just to listen to beeps and tones.

Thats easy, the higher the Ohms the less power it takes to drive them and that makes your batteries last longer
also the more sensitive they are on faint signals, which is the differance in hearing those once in a lifetime targets
