Hello
 Would like to ask how many other people out there in Oregon that read the forum and do any prospecting for minerals/metals?
Did not see any other postings  on this forum topic for Oregon except Portland Oregon.
Still working on equipment as a way to keep costs down.

Try rebuilding a old jaw crusher at a machine shop that has big enough equipment (this is only a 0 size assayers jaw crusher) and welding hard face rod on the jaws all from scratch........LOL
Still building a little 2 ft. x 3 ft. trailer to put the about 400 lbs.  on.

Trials and Tribulations.   LOL  Just replaced Ball joint, Tie Rod end and CV joint.  Now the clutch is crapping out.  Oh the Joy.  Starting to get sorta hot down here.  Going to miss my window to be out and about during the day time here soon.

Sad to hear about the hard time you are having with your car.  However you most likely will need the car to run good when you are finished with the results.  Wink

This one is wondering if there is no end in site if one starts prospecting or worse catches 'Gold fever'.......LOL. Idiot    The good side is this one will settle on other minerals / metals as well if one can lower the 'Gold bar standard'.....LOL
There is likely others out there who have found a few hundred pounds of Ore rock but don't have a way of finding out unless crushed and panned (Assayed).   Some times a metal detector can be useful as well in sorting out the rock to be crushed.   Detecting  The detector may 'scan' well in calcite and quarts very well.

Hello
Some times there can be some free milling metals near or even mixed in locked-up  sulfides ( called "Birds nests" when big ).  There even can be 'Pockets' of free milling metals especially in any area known for 'Pockets'.  The detector may 'See the Pocket' if big enough or even away from other background minerals.  Any of the detectors that you pointed out Homefire would work the best.  One may become a little crazy listening to all the metal detector's nose of each of the many  mineral zones. Crazy 
The best equipment is inside one's head. Of course crushing and panning is often the only way to find within rock fine minerals / metals.

I had one they work Magic for what they are.  Fly Poop gold is their specialty.  Got Broke and sold the one I had.  Going to Build one I think.  There are a number of reverse engineered versions proven working.

Wow thank you Homefire for the diagrams. 
This one got very lucky and found a older falcon detector with a bad coil cable for little money.  It was a pain to cut off the cable near the circuit board and solder in a new cable. Have not really had a chance to use it yet.
Talked to a someone who found a nice picker with one still in the country rock and none of the other detectors that where carried out in the field at the time could find very easy.   The Falcon had no trouble at all.  It appears that the Falcon detectors have a range of about 2 inches max. and a normal range of say 1/2 -3/4 inch.  Still this is better then one's eye balls.
