Ah yes the know  it all  teen  age years.

I think Girls are worse, because they try to mother and boss everyone about but that didn't wash with me, JR is 18 now and he's a good kid, He's still going to college and I have to find another $2600 for his next coarse in a few months, I just want him to pursue his Goals and come out with some qualifications  then he's got a Trade to fall back on, Personally I would like him to do as many coarse's  as possible the longer he stays there the Better, Aye

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Well I told him to learn all he can and then become what ever he wants, and be his own Boss and when he's done that to get gone and pursue his Dreams then he wont be Owing to anyone,

I don't care what it costs as long as he Finds his Dreams,,

And I make sure he is not held back???

Since he was 15 or 16 he has had his Own Servers, and he is still adding Heavy Duty Parts to the Computer he Built, But I supply the Cash/Parts and he Builds it bigger and Better every so often.

These days John your only held back buy what is between your ears.   People with less then a High School education have made Millions.  These days a Collage Degree means little or Nothing.  Not like when we was young.   Hell two years of Collage is about equal to the old HS Diploma.

To the North 60 Miles you have Bear Canyon Lake.  75 miles north west you have Bill evens Lake.  Up HY 25 you have Elephant Butte Lake.   29 miles from here you have Lake Valley the location of the Larges single Silver Deposit ever found in the USA.

Well I have to boost the Kids Dreams because of how they Treated him, And the more he has as Back up the Quicker he can Go, A father will only watch for so long before something Breaks,

Its not about the Learning, its about proving to him he can do anything and be Anything, the fact if anyone wants to get to him, Then they have got to go through me First.
I Swore that On The Day He was Born.

you guys are spot on about  college . I work with several folks with degrees . i tried to explain that to my boy while he was in college  that he should learn a trade to fall back on and pay bills with  and some of the trade jobs pay well untill he could get the one he went to school for  and that he would have experience in something   and so on that would help him.  mom and him knew better and i knew not of what i spoke  to them any way. so  he has a job 29 hrs a week  and a degree with alot of student loan debt MMM MMM (DAD & MOM 's name is on them loans..) and no experience.   startin out  thats a catch 22  even some of us have faced when we was startin out .   not many places want no experience and cant get any if  no one hires . guess my boy will have to learn the hard way like his old man  . i wouldnt listen to anyone either .   He will be ok   but things have changed since i was young .

Well I learnt to Weld and become a welders mate at the age of 18, Then I had my own workshop doing Spray Painting and Smash Repairs and building Cranes and Bull Bars etc, and Become a Mechanic And I was A Timber Cutter for many years, Then I got into the Building Trade and the only things I don't touch are Natural Gas and Electric , And in each of them I had my own Companies and I left school early, and at one time I held A Drivers Licence for 27 Classes of Vehicles Plus a Boat Licence up to 175 feet.

I guess I learned them because I did not want to rely on other people because I have always be self reliant.

So, Like you say a Trade can always get you a Living and that's what its all about.

Too many though want a $2,000 a week job that pays them for sleeping on the sofa. Just one of my grand kids got it together and with help from his mom and the government and graduated from a trade school. Makes pretty good money now, and can go to college now and pay for it himself. I really respect him.
