Here's a link to the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas. I actually visited this site a few years ago on a weekend. Didn't find anything but some guy who lives nearby has found over 5000 diamonds over the years.

Thanks for posting the link.  I remember reading an article a few months back about a state trooper in I believe Oklahoma that went there and found a canary diamond.  Pretty good article, maybe there is something of the find on the site.

I dn't recall that story. There have been literally thousands of diamonds found throughout the years. Some very valuable.

It had been in a Lost Treasure issue either late last year or early this year.  For some reason I'm thinking it was around October last year.  I'm thinking there had only been just a few of the canary yellow diamonds found that year with his being either the largest of the year or one of the largest canary diamonds.  I could be wrong but am thinking the article said the value was somewhere around $65,000.00 and he had or I should say his wife had decided they should keep it rather than sell it.

It was found March 12th 2006 and was a crystal shaped 4.21 carat canary yellow diamond valued at $60,000.00.  The largest of 84 found in the park by that point the trooper named it the Okie Dokie diamond since no other diamond out of the park had been named for his home state of Oklahoma.  It was the troopers first visit to the park.  The article was in the June 06 issue of lost treasure.

Park visitor finds 5.47-carat diamond


MURFREESBORO, Arkansas (AP) -- A Wisconsin man visiting a state park took home the ultimate souvenir: a 5.47-carat canary diamond.

Bob Wehle of Ripon, Wisconsin, found the diamond at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro October 14. The park is the world's only publicly operated diamond site where visitors are allowed to search and keep any gems they find.

"At first glance, it makes you think of lemon drop candy," Stolarz said.
