Inexpensive but impressive machine for use in testing diamond.

The link did not work, but I found it going back to the home page. Did a google search to see a review and only ones positive. But a warning on one site about fake/knock off ones. See

for info. Also I did also see ebay and suntekstores had them cheaper. But at least one appeared fake according to the site I mentioned.  About $15 including shipping. It may only do diamonds, but at least you don't have to buy the liquid for testing.

I was think about getting one. And still doing some searches. Sounds like the real one is made in Japan and the fake is from China. But it still says made in Japan. Also sounds like you need a moissanite tester also to make a positive id.

It uses thermal conductivity. But according to the site I listed above it is a Chinese knock off not the original.

My wife bought a diamond tester from Jewelry Television a few years ago, it worked great. I can't remember how much it cost at the time, but since I'm kind of cheap, it couldn't have cost too much.

Hope it helps,
Bill

if i can get hold or can build such a tester it will be nice
i dont have a video camery then i can post these stones
thanks for the topic

It checks the thermal conductivity of the stone. You would really need to check the information on one you buy. One of the sites I visited said something about an adjustment on one of them.
If you are checking a bunch of different types of gemstones you may need a gem refractometer. But probably the cheapest and maybe even easiest is to find out what stones are in your area and either get a I.D. book on them or find some one local who can help you I.D.'ing them. It's really tough to make an true positive I.D. from a picture.
