Thanks for the comments and my apologies for my insensitivity and incompetence. Trying to communicate on this forum reminds me of my first few trips to Rwanda. I'm disoriented. I've been getting notices about forum comments in my email, but following the link takes me to a dead end at the first days responses, but nothing new. Somehow by going through the topical list i stumbled across the latest comments. Any clues about what is going on? I suppose this question should be going to some kind of administrator?

You have been talking to moderators that have plenty of experience with new members that have your kind of problem.  When you receive a notification that you have a new message click on the link, that would be the first one on the email or should I say the one at the top of the mail.

I hope that this will help you a bit

In your own forum settings, you can turn off notifications  In an active subject like this, it can make you feel as if you are doing something wrong. Rest assured, you are not. Just go to your profile pages and change your notifications by unchecking the box. Then come back and have fun.

Thanks for helping me. The dead end links in the emails are the first or top links. So now i have turned off notification. I don't have these problems with my other groups, but this site is a lot more comprehensive (and complicated?) I guess I can try the notifications later if I get oriented. My comments about UV filters were meant to help other would be prospectors. Right equipment in the right environment for better results. Oops just got another email notification that went nowhere:

      Link took me right to the most recent reply, which is yours.
      Personally, I don't bother with the e-mail notifications at all.  I prefer just to log into the website and click on "__New Replies to your Posts"   That shows me which of the topics I've either started or commented on people have replied to. Then I click on the one I'm interested in and get taken right to where I left off reading and I read everything that has been posted since I last checked that topic.
