Sue, your best source for information is to attend some of the fossil shows that frequent America.
You may even have some fossil clubs in your area. Try to Google up fossil shows and fossil clubs. See if that works.
Most collectors will not give up locations easily.
I am only a finder not a true collector. I just like finding STUFF! Idiot
A true collector would spend a great deal of moneys or time devoted to their collections. I do not.
Most of my things are boxed up and put away.
Limited space is a hindrance.
I do not remember finding my first fossil or my first arrowhead.
I remember my first silver coin I found! It was a walking liberty half found at 6 years old retrieving some puppies from under a house.
That was 52 years ago Wise. I could not wait to spend it!  :Smiley
Since then I have found several including a Stone Mountain Half.

I'd be willing to bet Figgy has even went to the Quartzite show.
Have you been there yet, Figgy?

My very first fossil sale was taken to Quartzite in a trailer.
I had sold so many of the Calycoceras to one fella that he had to rent a trailer to haul them from Glen Rose Texas, Fossilmania.
It took me two trips in my Pickup to haul them to the show from Irving.
Approximately two 55 gallon barrels of them.
I had sold him some worth a lot more than what they were worth but he also had to purchase a lot of them that were worth less than half what he paid.
I wholesaled them for years before the County of Dallas came in and improved the site to keep it from washing away. It seems a shame we must rely on erosion to keep a hobby going.I happend to be there at just the right time one day to find some pterosaurs remains. That sold quickly!
That site is gone now and so is the primo finding.
Also there are some Johnny come latelys that keep the other sites Raped!
I have been pickin these up most of my life.
I have been threatened by some of these guys, I can tell you the competition for the ammonites can be dangerous in some areas.
I have came back to my truck and found my tires slashed.
I don't park there anymore. I also carry a weapon.

Holy moly, that is some serious fossiling you do down there! Rider I know here in Alberta in the ammonite locations, like the Korite mine, they have armed guards, Police but the natives and the Hutterites sneak in at night and steal them. There's so many fossils in Alberta and the laws are quite strict about collecting, we are only allowed to surface collect and with any vertebrates you need special permits to keep them, it's quite ridiculous because there's so many of them that the museum will never get to all of them, so they just weather away to dust, Wise I know of a triceratops skull that the museum jacketed last summer and they still have not picked it up, they abandoned many sites in this way but yet you are not allowed to touch them. Crazy
