So?  The wikipedia entry supports the Global News article that the "new" Russian diamonds are harder than "traditional" diamonds. (although I'd need some documented evidence to buy the "twice as hard as" claim).    Or am I missing something?

Some years back I read the story about the De Beers Group very interesting group and will be interesting how this plays out. The Mohs scale is just that a scale not a true gauge on hardness. Agate is a 7 or 8  but I have cut Mexican lace agate that was 9 or better and other agate that was soft maybe a 6.
