Goldfinger, Had my 150, 3 months and my 250, 2 months. I soil tested both side by side in wet florida sand with a penny, nickle, dime and quarter.(on edge) They both have the same sensitivity under these conditions. about 4 1/2 inches. The air test gave 7" for all. very little difference from coin to coin. Maybe an inch. recovery time is good. The 150 will see a cent 3 inches from a flattened steel can. That is important. Don't know about aluminum yet only that it took me about a week to distinguish cans from coins. I still dig them though. I found a tin (Sn) soldier and a brass candle stick which both responded like cans.

Bitburg (or anyone who wants to help here) - which model of Tesoro would compare with that Garretts 250?

If you're talking new to new, probably the Silver Sabre/Silver uMax.   It's a little bit more expensive than the 250 but not much.

Ace 250 is an enormous bang for your buck. I have it as one of three detectors. Buy it, use it as your primary and then when you get the itch to upgrade do it! The Ace is a great backup detector too. For the money you will be challenged to find a better deal. Great little detector.

You want the best, easiest to use detector that's backed up by great customer service? Get the Ace 250 and a new Garrett Pro Pointer! That's what I just got. My previous detector, years ago was a Garrett GTI 2500, truly amazing and I loved it just didn't have the bucks this time so I got an ACE 250 and a Garrett Pro Pointer.

I was out the other evening. I found that a nickle always gives me a short quick beep as I sweep it in both directions. Pin pointing with the Ace 250 gets you within 1-2 inches. Pro Pointer gets you dead on with vibration and sound and will not cause the Ace 250 to react. They are on different frequencies. This is the best combination, the best value for your money and the purchase that will return the most reward. Not to mention resale value down the road.

HTH! (Happy Treasure Hunting) !!!
