If it will not stay tuned, it has a bad Cap in the Mini Board that does that function.

 Look for a Small Piggy Back Board on the Mother Board.

It has two Yellow Caps on it.

R and R them.

Sorry, not sure what R and R them means. Assuming it means replace the Caps, and being that it's older technology I can do.  Is that what  you are saying?

Ah, I'll whip out the dusty soldiering iron and get to work. Hope I can get it apart, looks like the screws might be a bit weathered. Thanks so much. I really want to figure this out so I can work on the Reverse Discrimination being that I'm in Gold Country. Thanks again.

Naaa, didn't burn it up. Still messing about with it. Not entirely sure what's up with it Yet. Too make a fair assessment of what's wrong with it, I really ought to know how to use it. I really wish I had someone close by that could test it for me.  And if it needs work, then I just as well have a qualified tech work on it. Not that I would mess it up by replacing the caps, I can handle that.

Like to get a shot at detecting for gold. I know where piles of quartz are, who knows, Maybe I'll get lucky.

That is very encouraging to know. Grandpa never got to fully utilize this machine like it was intended , I want to do it for him. I'm stubborn as heck, won't stop until I've got it down. LOL
