Do you think it helps with taking the weight off the arm allowing more time swinging?

I've used one. It does take the weight off but does nothing for allowing more time for anything. It complicates things beyond your imagination. You thought you had trouble with a coiled headset? Wait until you try and go to your knees to dig with that contraption on. It will slow your recovery rate down by 10 times just trying to find a way to keep it out of the way. The sling wants to bring it to your chest, right below your line of sight. It's like having a 6 inch tall circus acrobat practicing from your shoulders. Adjusted right, you can't STOP it from moving.

Try it but don't expect miracles. Better for beach use with a long handled recovery scoop. If you have to bend and stoop to dig, forget it.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
