Thanks Jay! That was actually one of the sources I was going to look at simply because of the fact that it was originally published one month after his alleged death. I think its pretty easy for other books published now adays to be persuaded to write whatever they want. But this book is a great reference!

I thought the part where they found the coins and the gold bar was pretty questionable IMHO.

Hi superduty.  What did you find "questionable" about them?

I didn't think it was very questionable at all. Can you please elaborate on that superduty?

Jesse James' Hidden Treasure to be rebroadcast today,Wednesday, February 17 @ 2:00 PM Eastern

By the time Jesse James was killed in 1882, he'd stolen over a million and a half dollars according to some estimates--gold, coins and cash that could be worth over $50 million today. History often paints James as a clever outlaw who stole money to finance a lavish criminal lifestyle, a man whose sixteen year long crime spree came to a dramatic halt in 1882 when a fellow gang member betrayed him and shot him dead in the back of the head. But now, a treasure hunt may reveal a totally new story. Was Jesse really stealing for himself, or was he actually secreting away large sums of wealth, in order to finance one of the most clandestine secret societies in American history? Follow a team of treasure hunters searching for where he stashed his riches... and a new truth about Jesse James. Their discoveries may not only re-write the history of why Jesse stole, it could also raise new questions about his death.

Justin - there are many people who believe in what you are saying and there will always be those who will argue every point.  First off, there is a possibility that Jesse did fake his own death.  I know I would if I had been in his shoes with a family to take care of.  A theory is just an idea that has yet to be proven.....and that is what we have is a theory.  Let's just say that Jesse James was shot by Bob Ford that day.  Have you ever seen what a 45 gives for an exit wound?  Yet in the exhumation report they find a bullet lodged in the neck area??  Yet in the James home where he was shot there is a bullet hole in the wall?  If he was shot in the back of the head/neck and the hole above the left eye is the exit wound, I personally have an issue with that.  That side of his face, especially the eye area should be gone and I mean mince meat.  But we are talking a theory here, so keep researching and keep in touch.  And don't let anyone stop you from searching for the truth.....that is still tax free!  Wink

Midnight I have to agree the exit wound looks much to small for a 45 from close range. Entry will be small and clean but exit should be huge. Of course perhaps it was a misfire, or actually a smaller caliber, or the account isnt accurate. It's definitely odd if all is as was reported.

Ron Pastore/fact or fake?
The fact that he owns a jesse james museum and writes jesse james books seams a little self serving that he would do this special for the history channel.
