Go Up Go Down

Just before torrential rains hit, this rock was uncovered. The excavator bucket is at the right of the photo. Here's hoping for a few more weeks of dry weather after this wet spell passes.

b79, it is quite shallow. The Nokta indicated 60cm depth; it was unearthed at approximately 50cm.

No metals detected or found while digging it up, and its easily hefted by the excavator. At first I thought it was another naturally occurring rock, till I inspected it all over...it's 100% man-made. Some say that phallic shapes point to treasure, and it seems the Japanese have an ancient tradition of phallic worship with shrines dedicated to the phallus. Have you ever encountered anything like that before? This may just turn into an archaeological dig.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

hobbyist,

one of the successful recovery stories in my area (their were four that i knew of, excluding the Koreans who put up two schools in this remote mountain village) was a Japanese religious shrine. a concave was cut into a limestone river bank. inside was a statue of a japanese lady deity. to get in, one must climb few steps from the river bank. at the entrance was a phallic shape pointing up.

according to the story, one American guided by a local guy broke the phallic and inside were 6 gold bars.

today,  the concave structure is still there but nothing else is left including the statue.

the local guide who earns a living just by tending carabaos before is now very rich with many real estate properties and businesses.

What about the totem poles, Tabdog?
Are you saying there might be something hidden inside or under or maybe it's pointing to a hidden cache? Huh?

HH,

Ken
