Moving scams are everywhere now days and the military men and their family's  are often the ones getting had just saw something on TV awhile back about it.

If i see an email that looks suspicious, even Paypal, Facebook, Ebay, whatever, i right click on it and click properties.
That way, you'll see where it really came from.
Most of the times, it's an obvious name with numbers, not @paypal.com, @ebay.com.
Lots of spam/scam mails also have a confirmationcode in them so when you open the mail, they'll receive the confirmation that the mail has been opened and now know they are mailing a person.

Working in the law enforcement area, I see more different types of scams than there are members on this forum. One of the best ways to protect your self is only to deal with supplier that you know and these forums are an excellent way of spreading the word who is reputable and who is not. Great work.

What I have seen in the past as a common denominator is Western Union  If they would only change some of its guide lines or business practices, that would really put a hamper on these guys doing what they do!  Create an escrow for the funds transferal until both parties are satisfied.  Require a bank account when funds are collected ect.  Something!

I mean, I would never even think about using WU for anything now... not even with a legit company...I paypal!...like it! safer!

The question is did you expect THIS particular parcel. Try not to be condescending here. I was asking a legitimate question. I find it to be completely unexplainable that anyone not expecting a parcel would pay for one. Also, if you WERE expecting one, why would you not have paid for it when you ordered it?

Looks like smoke to me. If it looks like smoke, it just might be smoke.

Sorry Yoda, it was just funny how you asked the question...And the story goes like this:  I saw an ad on Craigslist in the UK for a good price on a MD.  Contacted the person who posted the ad and he said that he would ship it to me with this company...COD..but it was not COD... in fact the whole thing was a very elaborate scam... that is the point!

I see but how did it almost get you? The grammar in the ad would have been the tipoff for me. Also, why would they have a parcel with your name on it before you ordered it? The whole thing sets off alarm bells.
