Thanks, for the replies. Yea,I kind of figured the sniper won't go to deep, but  i will use it this weekend to clear some of those iron signals.i think they are nails
so close and so many.I hope i don't get fustrated only finding junk at first. i did find 2 quarters & 4 pennys (clad)$ copper pieces in a 20 min. search.

I think its time to learn the vaquero.Any of you guys use one?

Its still raining here. I have a plastic garbage can lid drilled with holes a dime won't go through. that's my sieve. Plastic is best because it doesnt' interfer with the probe.  Nails and bits of rusty cans go through the holes and leave the bigger targets behind. One good thing about the sieve is you can dig and sieve 3 or 4 targets at a time depending on the depth. Another way of dealing with the nails is a strong magnet. spread the dig out in a plastic garbage can lid about 3 inches thick and plow the magnet through it to get the nails out. sieving won't work if you have clay or rocks in the soil. Too much work. here in Florida we have whats known as 3 phi sand or sugar sand. It flows through a sieve with little effort.
