Personally, I would have to choose the rechargeable.  Less expensive and lasts a lot longer.  They work for me anyways. Smiley

2500MaH means that you can use 2500 Ma during one hour . Now it is up to what your detector is using to know how long the battery lasts . Your field in a detector coil will go down with the available Mamps  . If the coil needs 500 Mamps and your battery ran down to below that power , your coil will still work but the field is weaker . So , less depth !   The same goes for a PI detector . The PI sends out a pulse  which is choed to the coil . Here too if your battery has run down so far that the pulse is weaker the depth you are penetrating will be less . That is why it is important to always work with fully charged batteries . And use a battery that is at least 2500 M amps so it will last a while and does not die on you while you are searching . Of course evry detector needs its own power supply rated at its own strenghs .. Cornelius

Just a little more,
If your batteries say 2500 mah or whatever, it doesn't mean if you have 6 batteries in there you have 15000 mah.
When batteries are in series, the voltage adds up but the current does not - you still have 2500 mah.

Yes Paul , ofcourse in series the voltage would add u- . That is why if you want more life out of your batteries you should connect them parallel .   Wink    Cornelius

Another thing to watch out for is that most batteries from China do not meet their ma rating, a few do though in the higher price range. Buy a good name brand battery or one you know tests as it is rated.

one can use rechargeable batteries but can keep an alkaline set of batteries just in case he needs them when all his rechargeable batteries need recharging, knowing that most chargers take hours to recharge.
