Best Beginners Metal Detectors

As a beginner in the hobby of metal detecting it is important you choose the right metal detector. The wrong metal detector can create more headaches than anything else for you.
Here are our top beginners metal detector picks. The following metal detectors are well built and powerful, yet they are user friendly allowing newer users to pick up and go. They also allow room for you to grow as you learn your metal detector and become better at metal detecting.

I don't see any links for beginner metal detectors. I am new to metal detecting. I would love some help choosing the best one for me to start with. I live in Jacksonville Florida, so lots of sand.

I would recommend buying a pre-owned Tesoro Lobo Supertraq at around USD 350 - 500.00. It is a very decent machine but still easy to use and with a most affordable price.

Best wishes,

Christian

Need to ask yourself what kind of detecting you want to do. Beach, parks or prospecting? If you want to do all types then i would go with a Minelab X-terra -70 or 705 you can get different coils for this universal detector for each condition and they are under a $1000 with all the goodies.

First Texas Products owns Fisher and Bounty hunter. I would recomend that you get a Fisher F2 for a true beginners detector or maybe step up to a Fisher F4 or F5. The F4 cost about $400.00 and the F5 cost about $500.00. In my opinion the Fisher Line is a little better than the Bounty Hunter line.

Thanks
Todd

I started with a Bounty Hunter and also got a lot of caps and tabs at first.  I chalked it up to inexperience at first cuz I was still trying to learn how to dial in the machine.  Once I got more and more familiar though, the coins and rings started outnumbering the trash.
