I never had to remove one once in place but if I had to I would carefully cut along the edge where the two meet then rub the excess off with a rag and some elbow grease

I would use one it will save you money later on I have been trough 2 covers on my bounty hunter landstar
the coil still looks brand new, I have them on all my machines

Hi, if you got alot of money don't buy a cover , Just buy a New Coil. $100 or a cover for $10.its your money ! Detecting

I think tha coils that have tha epoxie bottoms
should have a coil cover to keep tha edges of
tha plastic from cracking.

But other than that, a coil cover has two good
uses;

1. When hunting on a nice lawn,,,,, put tha dirt
from tha plug in tha coil cover. It wont get fresh
dirt all over tha grass.

2. They make neat frisbees,,,,, lol

Hi all;

This coil-cover thread has been going since March 19.... before I joined the forum and I see some good suggestions, such as armorall, a preventative; covers, also preventative; and liquid tape, which I like for repair. If the winding(s) is/are damaged, and if you cant repair it, then its a new coil situation. If it is working, I would try the liquid tape or even crazy glue, if they will truly weld to the plastic. THEN I would use a cover...

Ive also got some archery cement for gluing on fletching, noches, and heads, on aluminum arrows.... its kind of rubbery and very persistant; it might work, too

Ive been worrying about my coils, which are not changeable, except as complete units, coax and all, now I have some interesting advice to consider.... thanks.

Dont know if I can get covers, but I sure could make them!

I was kidding. I aint never used one as a frisbee.

I just have never had a problem with a coil that way.

I broke a coil tryin to get tha cover off. That $15

investment cost me another $170.

I have hated them ever sense. I had a coil break at

tha place where it connected to the rod. That was one

of tha first Technatics ever made.

I had two get bad connections inside. A Fisher and a

Garrett.

But I have never had a coil leak, or crack the housing.

I always have used a cover for tha spider coils that

have tha epoxie bottoms with the edge of tha plastic

exposed. They will crack easily over time.

They add weight at tha end of tha detector,,,, Undecided

I have found that the lid from a pail of ice cream (the discount size that is usually grocery store branded) fits the stock BH coils very well. Just need to devise a means to attach it and you've got a cheap coil cover.
